  19. <p>     At 155-plus lbs. and seemingly always gaining, ANNA NICOLE SMITH
  20. is not a model whose appeal is universally understood. But Texan
  21. J. HOWARD MARSHALL II apparently has no difficulty seeing her
  22. charms. Late last month the 89-year-old quietly wed Smith, 26,
  23. in Houston. The Playboy/Guess model, whose first husband was
  24. a fast-food chicken cook, has found a more sophisticated companion
  25. in Marshall. He is a former attorney, Yale University law-school
  26. professor and oil-company chairman. His estimated net worth
  27. is $400 million.

  29. <p>     Faith, Hope and Flackery

  31. <p>     Actress TORI SPELLING often appears to be spoiled and ungracious,
  32. but that, we now know, is not the whole story. When a missing
  33. teenage girl with Down syndrome turned up near the Beverly Hills
  34. 90210 set in L.A. last week, Spelling, a star of the TV show,
  35. spent more than an hour comforting her. Then, like any really
  36. thoughtful person, she issued a press release about her kind
  37. act through her publicist. "I saw her and my heart went out
  38. to her," said the statement. "She had no idea who I was...She didn't know anything about Beverly Hills 90210."

  42. <p>     Few actors leap from the world of Suburu commercials and bit
  43. parts on Melrose Place to art films, but JEREMY DAVIES is managing
  44. the transition successfully. Having played a heroin addict on
  45. Melrose, Davies, 24, is now winning raves for his first starring
  46. film role in Spanking the Monkey, a dark comedy in which he
  47. portrays a teenager who beds his mother. He had no trouble handling
  48. the part. "I love interpreting human nature," he says. "If I
  49. hadn't become an actor, I would have become a shrink."

  53. <p>     As he led the New York Rangers to their Stanley Cup victory
  54. this year, coach MIKE KEENAN repeatedly made one promise: no
  55. matter what, he would not leave the team at the end of the season.
  56. Now, with four years left on his contract, Keenan says he is
  57. abandoning the Rangers to coach the St. Louis Blues. Fans are
  58. enraged, and the Rangers have filed suit to bar the move.

  60. <p>     Don't look for SYLVESTER STALLONE roaming Southern California
  61. with a Snugli. A DNA test has proved he is not the father of
  62. Savannah Rodin Stallone, the baby his ex-girlfriend, model Janice
  63. Dickinson, gave birth to five months ago. Sly recently said
  64. he had Savannah's "Harvard tuition paid," but his spokesman
  65. says Sly probably won't be involved in the child's upbringing.
  66. Despite the test, Dickinson says, "In my heart I know Savannah
  67. is his child."
